The same reason why Mark 14:12-14 isn’t in effect today is the same reason why so-called missionaries will never be able to speak in other tongues (languages) today as they did in Acts 2, instead they have to LEARN, be taught how to speak and understand other languages like the rest of us. That alone should make people THINK – yet they don’t. Can so many people be deceived? The answer is yes, unfortunately.
When people are confronted with these particular verses and the fact that they do not apply in this current dispensation of grace, one is looked on increduously, like one doesn’t believe what the Bible says.
I believe what it says, but I also realise that God isn’t speaking to us today by way of the Old Testament, which includes the four synoptic gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John, neither is the New Testament any of our business during this current time.
When the fairy dust of the lies and deceit start wearing off – you have to ask yourself what have you actually gained? Salvation? No. Why? Because the New Age concept of Pentecostalism and the Emergent Church does nothing but tell you how to “live your best life now”, in other words, it builds your outerman – flesh.
When someone appeals to your emotions and promises you all things wordly, then it’s your flesh that is being soothed and edified.  It goes without saying that both your eyes and theirs are firmly set on the things of this world.   This is not salvation, as salvation occurs in the innerman (spirit).
Colossians 3:3 ~ For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
The flesh can never be saved, this is confirmed by the fact that saved people are given new glorified bodies before they reach eternity.
Philippians 3:21 ~ Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
The Apostle Paul calls the fleshly bodies we were born with, vile.  And so it is.  Horrid.  Dreadful.  Disgusting.
The Apostle Paul also tells us –
That no flesh should glory in his presence – 1 Corinthians 1:29.
But at the same time –

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

31 That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. – 1 Corinthians 1:30-31.

Rotten flesh that should not glory in His presence, yet righteousness,  and sanctification, and redemption at the same time?

The Apostle Paul is referring to the saved innerman as opposed to the rotten flesh.  The saved innerman glories in the Lord, hence the reason why the rotten flesh and the saved innerman war against each other (Romans 7).

There is no war between an unsaved person’s flesh and his unsaved spirit.  Both are corrupt.   Unsaved men have corrupt minds.

1 Timothy 6:5 ~ Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

1 Corinthians 2:4 ~ But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

How does institutionalized, mainline Christianity proclaim to receive the things of the Spirit of God?  They try to discern these things through their own rotten flesh – by continually “praising His name” and doing good works.

If we could be saved by our own good works, changing our lifestyles and loving God/Jesus – then there would have been no necessity in Christ dying for our sins, being buried and rising again from the dead.  Think about it.  If God doesn’t saved your rotten flesh – does He care about it?  No.  So why does mainline, institutionalized Christianity care so much about the flesh then?

What they fail to understand is that God isn’t sitting and waiting upon any man to praise His name and do good works to impress Him.

The only way a person can be in God’s will and honour and glorify Him today is by believing Christ’s propitiation for sin – how that He died on the cross for one’s sins, was buried and rose again on the third day + nothing.   He did it all.  To Him be the glory alone.

This is God’s will for all men :

1 Timothy 2:4 ~ Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

1 Timothy 2:4 has two points :

1)  For all men to be saved – this can only happen by having faith in Christ’s finished work on Calvary’s cross.  There is no other way to be saved today.  1 Corinthians 15:1-4 is the good news for today.

Romans 1:16 ~ For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

2)  And to come unto the knowledge of the truth – this happens when one obeys the Apostle Paul’s word in 2 Timothy 2:15.   Ephesians 1:13 defines what the word of truth is, and Galatians 2:7-9 confirms it.

1 Corinthians 1:23 ~  But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;
The unbelievers of this current dispensation we’re living in have much the same problems as the unbelievers of the Apostle Paul’s time :

1 Corinthians 1:21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

Today, mainline institutionalized Christianity requires signs (and wonders and miracles and talking in “tongues”) = eyes firmly set on this world.   They also seek after wisdom in the way that they purport that the “Holy Ghost” personally conveys extra-biblical  prophecies, warnings and edification by talking to them.  Their wisdom Man’s wisdom – give 1000% and reap 10 000% rewards – chapter and verse please.

Since the Apostle Paul tells us that when that which is perfect has come, all signs, prophecies, tongues, etc will fail or cease, it makes one wonder why so-called Christianity is still trying to convince everyone that the sign gifts are still in effect today when all the hospitals and mental institutions are full, and most important, why the death rate is still 100% per person.  If they state that it is because most people don’t have any faith, hence they cannot be healed – then what about the childrens’ hospitals?  What did Christ say in Matthew 18:3?

That which is perfect has been fully revealed for almost 2000 years now, and it’s the revelation of the mystery given to the Apostle Paul by the ascended Christ.

It must be the only secret that has successfully been kept hidden from the majority of men over the past 2000 years, and counting……. and has everything to do with this:

2 Thessalonians 2:7-9 ~ For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

Satan is an angel of light in this current dispensation.  That means to illuminate – in a spiritual way.   Since the ascended Christ gave the Apostle Paul the Grace Gospel which he refers to as “my gospel”, Satan has given mainline, insitutuionalized Christianity a “my gospel” too, which includes changing one’s lifestyle, repenting of one’s sins, loving God/Christ, being baptized in water, doing good works or talking in “tongues”.

Satan too has his apostles today, ministers of righteousness.  The words “ministers of righteousness” should tell you what they’re about :  Good, “God fearing”, upstanding members of society whose end shall be the Lake of Fire, in other words, unsaved men standing behind the pulpits:

2 Corinthians 11:15 ~ Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Their end shall be according to their works because they have no salvation.  A believers end isn’t according to their works because they are saved.

Think about it.

  1. I get your idea that we need to move away from the OT mindset. But I also think we need to move from the NT mindset. Are we disciples of Jesus or is Moses or Paul the ones we follow. The bible puts testimony in context. We standing 2000+ years away need the wisdom and understand if we are to replicate life as a child of God in our lifetime. God sent Jesus because he believed that Luk 6:40 was possible. Thanks for the post. You presented many great points.
