Repent :

  • view or think of (an action or omission) with deep regret or remorse.
    “Marian came to repent her hasty judgement”
    Contrary to popular belief, repent doesn’t mean giving up your sin or feeling remorse for your sins.
    God too repented,   Was God in sin?  No, God is without sin. He repented (changed his mind) about some of his actions.  He went from this :  Genesis 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day – to this :

    Genesis 6:6 ~

    And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

    God regretted that He had created Man.   He had a change of mind.

    Nowhere does it say in the Bible that one needs to repent of one’s sins, on the contrary Acts 3:19 says ”

    Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

    In other words – have a change of mind and be converted in order for your sins to be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord – doctrine written to Israel.   In this scenario. the Jews had to repent for crucifying their Messiah, they had to have a change of mind concerning who He was and what the purpose of His earthly ministry was.

    John the Baptist said, ” “Repent ye, and believe the gospel.” – Mark 1:15.  In other words change your mind and believe the gospel.   One cannot believe the gospel if one doesn’t change one’s mind.  Think about it.

    One needs to have a change of mind in order to believe the gospel as one cannot believe it when one is in rank unbelief.   In other words, changing from unbelief to belief.

    It’s the mind that needs to be changed, not one’s lifestyle, demeanour or circumstances.

    It’s not what YOU DO.  It’s what YOU BELIEVE what CHRIST DID that matters.

    Believers not only changed their minds and believed the gospel, but also have their minds renewed :

    Philippians 2:5 – Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

    2 Timothy 1:7 – For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

    1 Thessalonians 2:13 ~ For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
