Vessels of mercy – vessels of wrath

(I might be wrong), but the word “hell” isn’t present anywhere from Acts 9 to the end of Philemon, which doctrine represents this current dispensation of the grace of God, but the words “wrath”, “damnation”, “flaming fire”, “vengeance”, “tribulation”, “anguish”, “perish” and “damned” are used, especially with reference to the unrighteous (those who aren’t clothed in God’s righteousness), also known as sinners, the lost, or the unsaved.   Because of the lack of the word “hell” in the Pauline epistles, many have gone to the extreme of believing Universalism whereby it is stated that ALL men have now been reconciled to God irrespective of their beliefs which at the end of the day amounts to blasphemy.

Romans {9:14} What shall we say then? [Is there] unrighteousness with God? God forbid. {9:15} For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. {9:16} So then [it is] not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

This verse confirms that it’s not by our own will or self-righteous works that we obtain God’s mercy.   It is Almighty God who will compassion on whom he will compassion – it is God who shows mercy – because He knows what men believe, and in this current dispensation God has mercy on them that believe the gospel of Jesus Christ.

omans {3:5} But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? [Is] God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man) {3:6} God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world? {3:7} For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner? {3:8} And not [rather,] (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

All men will be judged according to their deeds, including believers.  For everything one does wrong – whether you’re a believer or unbeliever – someone else had to suffer injustice – and this is the reason God judges us, He will always make reparation for injustice because He is a just God.

2 Thessalonians {1:8} In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: {1:9} Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

God takes vengeance on those who do not know Him, and those who do not believe the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Their punishment is everlasting.  Separation from the presence of God and totally devoid of the glory of His power.   They will be godless for eternity because of their choice of godlessness during their tenure on earth.

Romans {1:18} For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven  against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; {1:19} Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed [it] unto them. {1:20} For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

When people state that God is unjust because he will judge people who didn’t get to hear the gospel and thus weren’t saved, remember :  they are without excuse.  That is why I cannot comprehend the political correctness of some “preachers” who state that God will show mercy to unbelievers who never had the chance to hear the gospel, and thus didn’t have the option of believing it.   What are the chances of anyone today solely believing in Christ’s finished work on Calvary’s cross for their salvation?  If most in populated cities around the world cannot bring themselves to believe it, what are the chances of anyone in a remote region believing it? What are the chances of anyone questioning what they have been taught and what they believe?  God will however make allowance for those who are mentally disabled.

Romans {2:8} But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, {2:9} Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

Paul calls unbelievers contentious.  You might not think that unbelievers are contentious, because most are caught up in denominationalism and  profess to be kind, patient and loving, but they are actually contentious.  Give them the truth and their contentiousness will be exposed.  Unbelief is a contentious thing period.  Look how many who have turned away from the gospel are contentious – they fight against it and use everything in their power to dumb it down and to render it powerless.

1 Corinthians 6:9} Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, {6:10} Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Heathens – people without God, having no hope – the unrighteous.  Ephesians 2:12} That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

In times past the heathen Gentile nations were aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, they had absolutely no participation in Israel’s God-given covenant or it’s promises whatsoever, unless they prostelyzed to the Jewish faith or blessed Israel, therefore they had absolutely no hope of being saved, they were without God – godless people.  The chances of someone acting by faith and prostelyzing or blessing Israel were miniscule – one only has to read the Old Testament to verify this.   Heathen Gentile nations in times past had no hope in the world because they were without God, yet the irony is that these same heathen Gentiles today profess to be adherents and followers of Israel’s Old Covenant, in fact they claim it as God having made it (the covenant) with them/for them today, taking all its promises for themselves and conveniently rejecting its curses – just as can be expected from ignorant unsaved men.

2 Thessalonians {2:10} And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. {2:11} And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: {2:12} That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

One sees this clearly, especially in today’s world – unbelievers take pleasure and pride in their unrighteousness.  How many cross your path who glory in violence, being short tempered, committing murder, assault, theft – who live according to their own set of rules. What does Paul call unbelievers?     He refers to them as “vessels of wrath fitted to destruction”,  he calls them children of wrath,  he says their hearts are hard, he also calls them “children of disobedience”,   Please note that it says God will send them strong delusion – not A strong delusion.

Romans {2:5} But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

Romans {5:9} Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

In contrast to unbelievers, believers shall be saved from wrath through Jesus Christ.   Future.  We shall be saved from God’s coming wrath, but we currently are saved and sealed unto the day of redemption.

Romans {12:19} Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but [rather] give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance [is] mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

 Avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath. Our calling is to be kind to our enemies, to see them saved, if/when we are kind to them it gives place to God’s wrath – what they sow, they will reap.  If you do not take revenge when someone has wronged you, you are giving place to God’s wrath in their lives.  Pity most people can’t/don’t see that.  It is difficult because it’s the easiest and quickest way for a person to feel better about the situation – but it’s not the best method because it doesn’t fall in line with God’s will.

 Romans {13:5} Wherefore [ye] must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

Ephesians 2:3} Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

Ephesians 5:6} Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. {5:7} Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

Colossians {3:5} Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: {3:6}For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

1 Thessalonians {1:10} And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

1 Thessalonians {2:16} Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

The punishment for those who restrict the preaching of the gospel.

1 Thessalonians {5:9} For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, {5:10} Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.

The body of Christ has not been appointed to wrath, instead it is appointed to salvation by the Lord Jesus Christ and because of this reason, its members will live forever with Him.

So if someone tries to set you up, accuse you falsely, do you injustice in any way, they will give place to God’s wrath.
