For them there is no BUT NOW……
12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
They are still aliens from the commonwealth of Israel even though they claim Istael’s Old Covenant promises for themselves. There is however hope for them, if they would only believe, but until they do, they are without God in the world.
13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
To most out there they will never be made nigh by the blood of Christ due to their rank unbelief.
Unbelief is the tragedy of every Dispensation. During this current dispensation, they’re making piece-meal out of Hebrew doctrine – they are everywhere except where they’re supposed to be in the Bible due to their refusal to (a) believe the gospel of 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, and (b) rightly divide the word of truth – 2 Timothy 2:15.
In the epistle to the Ephesians, the Apostle Paul is speaking to SAVED people – saints., unlike as in his pre-prison epistles where he is speaking to both saved and unsaved people alike.
Since he is speaking to saints in the epistle to the Ephesians, he says, “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”
You were like this in times past (under Israel’s Old Covenant) – when God winked at all men……….. Acts 17:30 “And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:”
It means Gentiles weren’t considered for salvation unless they prostelyzed to the Jewish faith, and to do this they had to go through Israel (that’s a wink), BUT NOW during this current dispensation, He commands ALL MEN every where to repent – that is, to have a change of mind; turn from unbelief to belief in the Gospel of Christ..
There’s a colon at the end of that verse, and the beginning of that verse clearly says “and the times of this ignorance….” which means we must read both the preceding verses as well as the verses the follow after verse 30 to get the meaning in context:
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.
At the time of this ignorance when men thought that the Godhead was like gold, or silver or stone, graven by art and man’s device. Idol worshippers. Heathens.
Why must man repent (have a change of mind)?
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
And that means:
2 Timothy 2:8 ~ Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
There’s Christian suffering summed up – preach the gospel – suffer trouble, be called an evil doer, get thrown into jail.
Unlike some nominal Mid-Acts Dispensationalists who reckon that the “missionaries” we have in this world are called evil doers, get thrown into jail and suffer trouble for preaching the KINGDOM GOSPEL. They actually do, because the world is allergic to 4 words:
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. But tell people they are saved purely by grace, and not by Israel’s Kingdom Gospel and see what happens.
I already have a mainline institutionalised sister (as in blood) who thinks I’m crazy. What?? Israel’s Old Covenant isn’t meant for us????? Okay, chat later……… byeeee.
What causes allergies – worry, sin, unresolved emotional issues lol. Yeah right. So how come your doctor is treating you for same?
People cannot see their own contradictions.
But what I find most annoying is those Mid-Acts Dispensationalists who insist that mainline institutionalised, persecuted Christians are their brothers and sisters in Christ because it makes them fweel good and you have to be nice even though you refuse to consider that said “brothers and sisters in Christ” are actually hellbound.
I sometimes wonder about the IQ of some. Is it no wonder that they all want to get married and live happily ever after? It’s the norm these days. Life is cruel. Life is hard. Solution : Get married.
