Of course sin is still an issue today, it’s the reason why Christ died for your……… SINS, was buried and rose again from the dead, and when He died for your sins they were still future. Meaning, if your sins were still in the future, that means they would be an issue approximately 2000 years since Christ died for them.
If your sins were automatically forgiven 2000 years ago, you would have been born free of sin and there would be no need for you to believe the gospel for your salvation. And your sin wouldn’t be an issue.
When you trust the gospel of Jesus Christ – 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. Your sin is no longer an issue with God – in your spirit, that is. But it is still an issue with God in your flesh.
ANTONIMIANISTS say that sin isn’t an issue in God’s eyes today, therefore a saved person can live as they want – in the flesh. “We’re saved, therefore it doesn’t matter if we cuss, drink, gossip, listen to hereticks and propagate heresies”.
Ephesians 4:30 ~ 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Paul says PUT ON the new man which AFTER God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
Ephesians 4:
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
If sin is no longer an issue for Believers, why does Paul say this:
Romans 6:
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?”
One just knows that people are choosing to live their own way when they say sin is no longer an issue today. “We’re all reconciled anyway – so we can behave like we want to”
PUT ON – make an effort, a decision to let your flesh behave accordingly. Let your mind be renewed so that it can tell your outerman/flesh what to do in accordance with sound Pauline truth
Universalism claims that sin was dealt with on the cross (rightly so), God provided the solution for it…….. but it (Universal Reconciliation) goes a step further and says, therefore ALL are automatically reconciled to God today – because of His finished work on Calvary’s cross, hence the reason they call it UNIVERSAL RECONCILIATION.
I got tied up in Mid-Acts Universal Reconciliation once for biding my time with knuckleheads.
Knuckleheads who make salvation a 2 step process:
- Automatically reconciled to God in your sinful state because of Christ’s finished work on Calvary’s cross; irrespective of what you believe;
- Then only justified once you have believed the gospel
BUT you cannot be reconciled to God unless you have been declared holy (justifed).Why? Because all have fallen short of His glory (Romans 3:23). And fallen creatures cannot be reconciled to God without having faith in Christ’s redemptive work on Calvary’s Cross and His resurrection.
Sinners have fallen short of the glory of God and cannot automatically be reconciled to Him without having believed the gospel, whereafter they are sinners no more because they are justified in the eyes of God, whereafter they need to crucify their flesh because the law in their members is different to the law present in their (renewed) minds.
