16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
*No mention of Him dying for our sins,
*No mention of his burial.
*Nor resurrection for our justification
It says God gave his only begotten son, meaning he gave him to Israel to offer the promised kingdom, and she had to believe in Him in order to have eternal life, ….. but she did not, nor did she believe he was the son of God….. nor that he was the Messiah/King……..
Paul’s grace (my) gospel states that we are to believe HOW THAT Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures…..
*we can go back in hindsight to the OT (Matt, Mark, Luke & John) and note how that Christ died for our sins – he was made sin for us – he was beaten and made to suffer in our place, he took the punishment we deserved….
he was buried, and rose again on the 3rd day according to several witnesses……. according to the scriptures……
BUT no one knew at that time that Christ’s death, burial and resurrection would be the way Gentiles would be saved in future, through faith alone and would become fellowheirs in the kingdom of God with Jews who believed the same gospel……. since Israel at that time had an elevated status and was above the heathen Gentile nations who had no hope and were strangers from the covenants God made with Israel……. it was a mystery….
All prophecy in the OT was fulfilled concerning Christ’s death, burial and resurrection….. “It is finished…”
And yet certain people will tell you MML&J is pre-crucifixion……. which is a lie….
Which brings me to Paul’s “my gospel”…….
Whenever Paul mentions his gospel, it is in singular terms, but you get those who claim he preached 14 gospels and counting…. because of their kenotic theology, they cannot discern that God and Jesus are separate, yet one, and due to the unbelief of the Jews, who had to be convinced by Paul that Christ is the Son of God – referencing the OT – convincing someone of something isn’t preaching a gospel, it’s laying the groundwork whereupon they can build their faith…..
showing them prophecy in their Torah concerning Christ.
